Overcoming Challenges in ADL Tracking and Reporting

Base on the care that you’re giving, it is pivotal for you to keep track of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), especially for those with varying independence level. However, there is a need for proper protocols for the tracking and reporting of ADLs. These are the challenges that we encounter at Serenity of Commerce. We have employed effective approaches to these challenges enabling us to provide uninterrupted and adequate care to our patients.

Common Problems encountered with ADL tracking

  • Subjective Reporting

In most cases, personnel responsible for tracking ADLs use reporting of caregivers which can be a problem because it introduces some element of subjectivity. This can result in caregivers’ different assessments of how much help a patient needs in performing the task, resulting in unreliable information.

  • Time Constraints

Because caregivers have so much on their plates, they do not often keep detailed records of patients’ ADLs. So you could expect ADL recording form to be inconsistent or more generic.

  • Resistance from Patients

Asking assistance to some patients and even assessing them for ADLs may not be friendly as some patients may resist help or feel embarrassed. In which case, gathering information would be an odious task.

  • Data Management

A decreased workload is the last thing to expect from an overmaxed facility looking after many patients some of whom may have a lot of ADL and additional data to report. As for the facilities themselves, manual management and analysis would be a nightmare.

Strategies to Overcome These Challenges

  • Standardized Assessment Tools

The use of the standardized forms also helps to restrain subjectivity such as using checklists or digital platforms for tracking activities of daily uses. At Serenity of Commerce, we also ensure that there tools used for tracking and reporting are universally understood.

  • Training for Caregivers

This equips them with the skills necessary for the effective observation and recording of the ADL’s. The quality of reports is addressed through the training by emphasizing precision, consistency, and empathy during the training.

  • Patient-Centered Approach

This trust is important for patients that tend to be resistant. When patients are participants in the process, and when the aim of their independence and well being through ADL tracking is emphasized, there is collaboration and openness.

  • Leverage Technology

This means that ADL tracking is facilitated whereby caregivers on the spot record and retrieve information. This leads to correct and up to expectations communication and reporting, and also enables tracking of the changes occurring in the patient’s needs.

The Serenity of Commerce Advantage

Our caregivers are trained not only to seek efficiency but also empathy, thus ensuring that ADL tracking is of appropriate quality in relation to the patients. They shifted the focus of their methods from creating new patients to addressing those patients’ problems by using technology and increased collaboration.

In our opinion, not all patients can Fit into institutionalized care because every patient is unique. Hence offering enhanced care requires catering to the patients rather than purely focusing on the reporting aspect. Serenity of Commerce values these challenges equally and strives to give better rapport in terms of providing patient-centric care.
